Jean-Claude Ellena continues his fragrant journey through Italy, Viaggio In Italia.

Viaggio In Italia by Jean Claude Ellena Laboratorio Olfattivo

In love with Italy, he comes here from Grasse at the slightest suspicion of boredom and sullenness - to unwind, rejoice, feel the joy of life, plunge into the sea, and reclaim happiness. The new fragrances in the Viaggio In Italia by Jean-Claude Ellena collection are dedicated to lemon and bergamot; sunny fruits that turn any day into a bright and cheerful one. We announced the fragrances earlier, and I couldn't wait to smell them ever since.

Limone Laboratorio Olfattivo

As soon as I smelled it, I immediately realized that it was not only the scent of lemon peel oil. In addition to the oil, it contains freshly squeezed lemon juice and something green, fresh, leafy-bitter. And also something prickly and spicy, with a bubbly and sparkling vibe, like sparkling wine... As soon as I realized that prickly, white and spicy was ginger, the whole picture came together. But for me, the Limone picture did not take shape in Italy, but rather in Thailand.

Let's say it's like the preparation of a salad in a short cooking course in Thailand. We have vegetables and bitter greens, and we wash everything. The lemons are sliced, and the juice squeezed out, the lemon zest is grated, the ginger is sliced generously - and now we are looking around the kitchen for the other ingredients: where are the garlic, chili peppers, sugar, fish sauce, and dried shrimp? There is nothing more to it. To make sure the salad doesn't turn into a failure, we opened a bottle of chilled prosecco, and we make a toast to a wonderful hot summer. And at this beautiful moment in time, the "lemger" cologne takes a good pause. Slowly transforming from the magical lemon bubbles and spicy ginger into the soft white rind - between the zest and the juicy lemon fruit. It's here, as the Russian writer Venichka Erofeev said, where it is important not to miss a moment - and add more just in time!

In short, Limone is cheerfulness.

Limone Laboratorio Olfattivo

Notes: Italian lemon, Ginger, Orange leaves, White musk.

Bergamotto Laboratorio Olfattivo

This fragrance begins with the freshness of bergamot and greens, offering transparent citrus freshness with a floral tinge. However, it is quickly joined by a supporting material: the spicy and woody cardamom, smoothed with white musk, and this duo reminds me of several famous Jean-Claude Ellena fragrances at once.

I remembered Declaration Cartier and Un Jardin Apres La Mousson Hermès - they have a characteristic clean and mildly spicy accord that reminds me of the wet woody-papery smell of cellulose inside the stems and inflorescences of a sunflower. So for fans of these two fragrances, I would advise you to try Bergamotto - two favorite fragrances are better than one. The difference is that there is no aquatic part in Bergamotto. Its freshness smells quite natural, with a woody-musky base. Perhaps there are even more fragrances by the Maestro that have a similar accord - for example; I have not tried Colonia Assoluta Acqua di Parma and Acqua Solis Le Couvent, which were both also made with the duo of citrus and cardamom.

To describe the "bergamom" (or "cardamot") scent with one word - it would be cleanness. I do enjoy wearing both colognes and was surprised that Limone is my favorite from the duo.

@ztwei: you don’t know what I am talking about mainly because it is my opinion and not yours. I like declaration, eau de campagne and voyage but I am not an Ellena’s fan (never said that, anyway). Not a hater, either.

I don't know what are you talking about @pgs. If you doesn't enjoy the citrus scent made from Ellena, you are not his fan definitely.

I feel disappointed since I expected something better from Monsieur Ellena. The price is too high for what one gets. Definitely not the best creations from Monsieur Ellena.
