Kilian L'Heure Verte & Apple Brandy on the Rocks
New Fragrances

kilian The Liquors

Kilian is expanding The Liquors perfume line, inspired by the rich and full aromas of alcoholic beverages, for two new releases: L'Heure Verte & Apple Brandy on the Rocks. The Liquors embodies the legacy of Kilian Hennessy as the heir to a French family that produces cognac.

kilian The Liquors

While the first two perfumes from the collection, Angels' Share and Roses on Ice, interpreted cognac and gin in fragrances, the two new ones represent the cities of Paris and New York and their distinctive drinks: absinthe and apple brandy with ice.

Kilian The Liquors

L’Heure Verte

L’Heure Verte reflects the unique Parisian inductions and illusions, wild nights and pleasures, as they say from home. L’Heure Verte is named after the traditional French equivalent of ‘Happy Hour’ — a ritual serving of absinthe with sugar in a glass.

As the first collaboration between founder Kilian Hennessy and French perfumer Mathieu Nardin, L’Heure Verte is made to express Paris at its best. The composition is based on patchouli, with introductory notes of absinthe and licorice leaves and roots.

Top: absinthe
Heart: licorice absolute, violet leaf
Base: patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, woods

Kilian L'Heure Verte & Apple Brandy on the Rocks

Apple Brandy on the Rocks

This perfume was created by Sidonie Lancesseur in 2013 for the opening of New York’s KILIAN PARIS boutique. The fragrance returns with the original heart of apple brandy, but this time, there are additional accords of "ice." The combination of bergamot, pineapple, and cardamom cools the original, adding a touch of modernity.

Apple Brandy on the Rocks is characterized by the signature accord of apple brandy, created with a mixture of rum notes for liqueur, moss and vanilla. The base includes cedar and ambroxan.

Top: bergamot, pineapple, cardamom
Heart: rum, vanilla, moss
Base: cedar, ambroxan

kilian The LiquorsThe new fragrances come in Art Deco-style glass bottles. They are available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

Both sound interesting. I tried the original Apple Brandy years ago and the changes sound good. L'Heure Verte sounds unique and I'm curious to see how the notes show up. A Taste of Heaven was also supposed to be an absinthe scent, but was lavender-focused. L'HV sounds more wearable.

Angel's Share is just like Apple brandy so I am intrigued as to how it will smell different ...? but no compliants from me as boozy gourmands get me every time .....!

Angel's Share was a pass for me because it got too far into gourmand sweetness for me whereas I was hoping for something different. I've got hopes for L'Heure Vert and pray this isn't going to be a fairly generic too sweet candied licorice cocktail. Especially not for that price.

I'd also say that I don't associate absinthe with the type of a glass that the bottles are imitating, and this dissonance is somewhat annoying. However, I'm ok putting this aside in favor for the actual juice.

Oooohhh, I haven't been too interested in Kilian stuff so far, but I'll definitely have to try L'Heure Verte! Angels' Share gets a lot of hype, but brown liquor notes aren't my favorite thing in perfume. L'Heure Verte, though, sounds really interesting (anything licorice or licorice-adjacent speaks to me), and I love the color of the liquid.

They should better call it Calvados instead of apple brandy :)

2 photonparable: what do you mean? another name for apple brandy is calvados, I think you struggle to find a barman who doesn't know a French classic such as calvados from Normandy, every respectable bar should have it, even in NY...

Nobody does boozy scents like Kilian. I’ll be buying both. I only wear Apple Brandy in the cooler months so I’m hoping this next one will be more wearable all year round! Can’t wait!!

I wonder how much different Apple Brandy on the Rocks will be from the original Apple Brandy. The original is a masterpiece; Sidonie Lancesseur created both. The notes listed are somewhat different though. I will have to try a sample to see if this update come close to the original .

I'm excited to check out Apple Brandy! The notes sound amazing. I love Angel's Share (it's on my wish list), and I find Roses on Ice really refreshing (probably don't love it enough to purchase, I haven't tested it and feel like longevity would be lacking). The bottles are gorgeous, I love how they look like fancy crystal scotch glasses. I see one of these in my future!

I have been on the lookout for a true absinthe perfume for *ages*. I actually like absinthe, and I love the scents of wormwood and anise. "L'Heure Vert" boasts licorice root instead, and I hope it really shines with the wormwood, almost like an alcoholic sarsaparilla / root beer.

Seems interesting and I'll 100% be buying one of these. Unrelated contention, I have NEVER in my years of living in NY seen someone drinking apple brandy lol
